Parishioners and visitors are encouraged to support this ministry in helping the needy!
Our Mission
Friday Fast is a mission and an act of mercy towards the needy by abstaining a cup of coffee, a slice of cake or even one or two meals and donate the cost of those items. As many drops make an ocean, collecting and accumulating small amounts of these donations, make us capable of extending our hands to the most needy.
Anybody can be a part of this great ministry by making monetary donations, and yet no matter how small it is, can be put in an envelope and placed in the collection plate each weekend.! Friday Fast envelopes are available at the Church entrance at all Catholic Parishes in Geraldton.
Family Friday Fast has been operating in our parishes since 1995. Initially a committee was formed, however members have left for various reasons. However Mrs Yvonne Krummenacher carried on with this project on her own for a very long time. Currently Mrs Yvonne Fahl is coordinating this ministry.
News and photos are sent back to Geraldton from each Project undertaken and it is wonderful to see how money sent to Missions can help desperate people in many ways, especially the children.
The criteria for selecting a project
- It should be a particular work of mercy
- It should be an ongoing project
- There should be feedback from the project coordinator
- There must be certainty that the money will arrive
- It should be a Mission in a different country each year
