Mothers’ Prayers Group
Menu
This way of praying for their children, launched in England in 1995, was taken up by around seventeen Mothers, encouraged by Sr Goretti. On Thursdays at 9 am the group now meets to pray in the Cathedral. In this gentle yet strongly enriching way of uniting in prayer, they place their children’s names in a basket at the foot of the cross, in Jesus’ care, joining with the women of all Mothers’ Prayers groups around the world, and all mothers.
Reading from Scripture and thanking God for the gift of motherhood and grandmotherhood, along with praying for all children, for families, for world peace, and other current intentions, part of the Rosary, and singing are included. With the strong sense of community and purpose that is built in this way, the group is very welcoming of new members.
