Historic settlement
St. Peter’s Church in the Central Greenough Historic Settlement was first built in 1860s which has served as both a church and a school. The wheat farmers first settled in the region was in Greenough in 1858. Due to the hardships, they faced like rust and floods, lead the town’s eventual abandonment.
Rebuilding of the Church
St. Peter’s Church was badly damaged by the 1888 flood and was replaced in 1909 by a more substantial building erected next to the Greenough Convent, also called St Peter’s.
Location
This Church is located 24.5 km south of Geraldton, not far away from the Brand Highway at Gregory Road in Greenough.
Administration
Administration of the Church is by St Francis Xavier Cathedral and Rev Fr Brenton Taylor is celebrating Mass every Sunday.
